How To Choose The BEST DJ For Your Wedding Party? Here are some tips.

By Flora Leave a Comment

The DJ plays a key role in your wedding party. In fact, if you want your guests to dance till dawn, take your time to choose the best. There are professional wedding DJ’s who know what we are talking about here. The DJ should be able to bring both youths and adults to the dance floor. He is a partner to the success of this unique day and helps in welcoming the guests, opening the dance, announcing the wedding cake…these are just some few examples of those wedding steps which need special lighting and music.

10 Tips to Choose the DJ for the D Day

Tip # 1. First and foremost, let’s agree on this: no DJ equals no wedding. So, the best is to go DJ hunting at least six months before the D Day;

Tip # 2. Go to specialized websites to find the nearest professional and renowned DJ’s in your region. They have better chances to know the chosen hall and this limits your costs by avoiding a possible trip;

Tip # 3. After selecting some, at least three, prepare rendez vous in order to decide the best one;

Tip # 4. During these meeting make sure you check the following: transport fare (for the animation team and the material), food and drinks for the team (they usually provide their demands concerning these), potential overtime cost, quality of the material, availability of replacement material should the need arise, renting of videoprojector;

Tip # 5. Let him know about the wedding theme and see what he proposes. If his choices meet yours up to a certain percentage (let’s say 80), you will know that you are with the right person;

Tip # 6. A good DJ should be discreet. If during this meeting, you can’t place a word because he is very talkative, just cancel him from your list because he will spend his time passing personal announcements and behaving funny at the mike. This might spoil your party;

Tip # 7. Also, a professional and qualified DJ will want to adapt to your style and not try to impose on you a specific one;

Tip # 8. If you are convinced at the end of the interview, you will sign a contract concerning all the points you agreed on. You usually have to give an advance of 20% and the rest after the party;

Tip # 9. Moreover, make sure you give him: a list of the must-be-played titles at your party, exact timing of the party, key steps where specific songs and lighting are needed, closing song, the hall (address, measurements, timeframe (if rented)…), number of guests (with precision on the number of adults, children, elderly), contact (of one or two persons you trust, your Chief Bridesmaid or witnesses, so that they can handle the rest since you will have tenths of matters to attend to);

Tip # 10. Your humble servant wants to emphasize on this: avoid employing a DJ simply somebody’s words (you might be highly disappointed if he did not pass any interview). Also, avoid taking an amateur (probably a member of the family who thinks he is up to the task simply because he barely knows how to use Virtual DJ (no ads please)).

I believe you are now set for the hunt. Wish you all the best!!! Example of a successful wedding party with guests having fun with good music
