Destination Weddings: For the Adventurous Bride and Groom
For couples that feel like promising an eternity to each other isn’t a big enough voyage, there are some amazing sights and sounds that you can take in together. There isn’t a better way to start your life together than to begin it with a once-in-a-lifetime experience, for example. Many couples are choosing exotic venues to exchange vows because they want to have their first moments together as husband and wife to be as magical as possible.
Weddings on the Ground
For couples who like to see wildlife and want to experience the African wilderness, bush and safari weddings are an option. One of the most beautiful venues is in the safari park in Amboseli. Couples may choose to set up a remote side on a tour to have a ceremony, or exchange vows at one of the many luxury lodges available for their stay. The bush weddings tend to be more involved and take place with local music and tribal dancing. When you make arrangements with a lodge, you can have staff arrange all of the necessary legalities (including proper licensing), flowers, music, food, and decorations.
Another option for couples that want a traditional ceremony is to celebrate in the heart of a Maasai tribe. The Maasai are a majestic nomad tribe of warriors that has a unique set of marriage rituals steeped in tradition. This is perfect for the couple that want an authentic experience. There are villages that can bless (seal) your vows and the ceremony can even be officiated by a tribal elder.
Weddings by the Water (and in it!)
Beach weddings are very popular in Kenya, thanks to the beautiful white sands and pristine waters of cities like Mombasa. There are many luxury resorts to choose from, each of them offering gourmet dining cuisine and spa therapy services so that the happy couple can enjoy a relaxing stay on the shore after the ceremony. As with the safari wedding, arranging your ceremony with a resort is a great way to save time and money since the resort staff will provide all inclusive services. There is even an available dhow, a private boat fit for an intimate excursion, immediately available to couples after exchaning vows, or in a more customized setting, some couples may choose to exchange vows on the boat!
Weddings in the Air
There are few more passionate scenes than getting married while overlooking the vast plains of Africa as you drift dreamily along in a hot air balloon. This unique experience can be as tailored as the couple prefers, with just the couple, an officiant, and the pilot, or accompanying balloons that occupy up to twelve guests per balloon. These ceremonies usually take place at sunrise and last about an hour, so that the couple exchange vows over a golden washed landscape, then can make a private landing at a site on a park reserve, where the happy couple can be congratulated, enjoy a champagne breakfast, then return back to their lodgings. Masai Mara is a renowned location for hot air balloon weddings.
If any of these exotic locations appeals to you, and you wish to begin the biggest adventure of your life with another big adventure, ask your wedding planner or travel agent about these magnificent venues!
