4 Elements that Make a Great Reception

By Joyce 1 Comment

Every couple wants their wedding reception to be perfect and one to please and make their guests proud and enjoy the entire day. It can be a daunting task but all you need to do is choose one that matches your personality and one that fits the weather condition during that time. You may decide to have an outdoor wedding reception or an indoor one depending on the weather and budget too. So what ideas do you have and how do you start implementing them?

1. Theme: It is a factor that can make your wedding look colorful or boring. Ensure your reception is eye-catching and memorable for your guests

  • a. You can decide to use tents and chair decorations that match the maid’s dresses or something that compliments that to make it look organized and elegant.
  • b.In case you love dancing, this is your day and you can ensure you have got music to entertain yourselves and the guests too. Be creative and use anything that will make your guests happy and lively making the day is up to your expectations.
  • c.Inform the guests prior of the kind of costumes you would love them clad in and let them sign the guest book as they pose for a photo as they get in. This will make it very memorable for you as you reflect on the big day.
  • d.The décor you use including lighting, flowers and even table cloth should match with the big day’s theme.

2. Be aware of the local community: By this I mean the people who attend.

  • a. Do not forget of the customs and laws of you community even when planning for a good time for your guests.
  • b.Some communities do not advocate for the use of alcohol and the best thing is to obey that to ensure all your guests are contented.

3. Budget: It is the core of every thing you intend to do in a wedding reception being one of them.

  • a. Ensure all the things needed in the reception are catered for. Ensure that decor does not take up a large amount of money than food or drinks.
  • b.Hire a good caterer but first confirm on the price she is to charge. Some couples make the mistake of hiring individuals and not confirming about the price prior to the task. They later find the caterer charging very large amount of money they had not budgeted for.
  • d.If you are buy your guests drinks, ensure you stick on the budget and still make them enjoy. They can later purchase the drinks on themselves and enjoy the rest of the evening.

4. Send off: How do you end your day with style?

  • a. Ensure you have a final song that can be accompanied by fire wax to make your guests have a last dance with the couple.
  • b.Give a vote of thanks and thank them for making your day and supporting you through it. This will be better than rushing your guests away.
